Appointment Prep. and Aftercare
-
Show up to your appointment on time! If you can’t make it, please call the shop to let your artist know as soon as possible.
Be sure to eat a decent meal the day of your appointment. This will keep you from feeling light-headed and actually makes the tattoo hurt a little bit less!
Wear comfortable clothes, as you may be sitting for multiple hours.
DO NOT consume alcohol before your tattoo appointment. We do not tattoo clients who have been drinking.

After your tattoo session, we will apply a second skin type bandage to your fresh tattoo (please let your artist know if you are sensitive to adhesives). This is a medical-grade bandage that acts as a very thin, second layer of skin. It is water-resistant, meaning you can shower as normal, but do not submerge the bandage (such as in a bath or pool). You may notice your tattoo “weeping” underneath your bandage. This is a buildup of plasma, and is completely normal. It may appear that the lines of your tattoo are blurry, which is also normal, and will go away once you remove the bandage.
After 4 days, remove the bandage. We recommend doing this in the shower, as it generally helps loosen it a little easier. Your tattoo will be mostly healed at this point, so you should gently wash it with unscented soap daily (Plain Gold Dial is a great choice). Then dry using clean paper towels. Additionally, a thin layer of unscented lotion may be applied once daily to help keep your skin moisturized as your tattoo heals.
During the remainder of the healing process, your tattoo may start to peel, itch, or scab slightly. This is normal. Be sure not to pick or scratch your tattoo, as hard as it may be, as this can cause ink fallout.
If you have any further questions about aftercare or how your tattoo is healing, feel free to call the shop!
